I think I’m nesting

From what I’m reading, its a little early for me to be nesting. I’ve been very lucky to have family give me some of their hand me downs. I’ve received a crib, a ton of clothes, a stroller, some bouncy thing- actually 2 bouncy things and so on. I’ve let it sit in our spare room for a bit, and recently decided to go through it and make decisions on what to keep and what to pass along. Its a lot of stuff! I went through about 8 garbage bags of clothes. I’m proud of myself haha. I started washing the clothes we decided to keep, and now I’m folding it and categorizing it by size. Where do I store this!?!?! I have a dresser, but I have a feeling there’s a better way to store all this clothes effectively. I gotta ask my friends, because they are boss moms.

We also hit up Babies R Us tonight to start our registry. I ALWAYS dread going into a baby store. Its always been an overwhelming experience for me (nothing is ever where its supposed to be!!!). I’ve left the store with gifts sweating and with a migraine. We walked in  tonight and started with diaper bags and went from there. Struggle bus over here. I had an idea of what we needed, but instantly knew I’d have to continue adding things online because the store was too much for me. I mean a crib mattress is about $200- are you kidding me?!?!?! Its terrible. I’ve also created a Babylist registry, which is much less stressful. I love it because it allows the purchaser to choose the best price out of 2-3 options. Talk about considerate you know what I mean! Annnnd I can pick items from Etsy, Amazon, Target- basically anywhere I want. Love it.

I still feel overwhelmed about it all… I was folding some swaddle thingies and I have no idea how to fold them- much less how to put them on a baby. What is life?! I feel a little unprepared for this whole becoming a parent thing, but I know it’ll come in time. I can do this! Its just a little daunting. Till then, I’ll continue to work on my little one’s room and try to make it as relaxing and adorable as possible. Thanks for reading <3

Lipsticks

I never used to wear lipstick. I thought I shouldn’t because my teeth weren’t white enough. I don’t have abnormally yellow teeth or anything, but in my mind my teeth needed to be celebrity white. Then one day I didn’t care. The first color lipstick I purchased was Candy Yum Yum by MAC, and then it melted in my car ( I know! What can you expect leaving it in the car right?!?!). I then bought Relentlessly Red by MAC and loved it. I felt a little strange wearing such a bright color, but I must say its one of my favorites! Then, I lost that one (found it later) and went to re-purchase it when my friend Maria suggested I get another color because you never know if you’ll find it later. Taking her advice I purchased Ruby Woo and Honey Love. I found the lipstick I lost by the way, I was so happy! No RAGRETS! hahaha! For real, I love these colors and I’m so glad I got over that whole “my teeth aren’t white enough” situation. Be saucy, and rock that lipstick.

Style on the Mile

It’s been a while since I snapped pics of the fashionable people I see on Sunday mornings. I took full advantage of my sister visitng our campus and made her and Maria pose for me. Hehe
I don’t have the details of their outfits though. Which is key when I plan these posts, but it was quick and unplanned. So…cheers to spontaneity!

Fears and all.

I love life right now. God has blessed me beyond all my hopes. I am undeserving. One of the things I want to talk about is Hustle Sauce, my new creative/business adventure. I’m not afraid to tell people that I really had no concrete plan, or that I felt very fearful about doing something this. This just kind of fell on my lap. I’m grateful it did. I had always wanted to do something like this and never thought I could. I didn’t understand business. I didn’t understand taxes. I didn’t understand marketing. I didn’t understand how so many loved ones said I had “something” and I couldn’t see it. Now, I still don’t entirely understand any of these things, but they’re happening regardless. I grateful for my family and friends who are so encouraging about it all. They push me. They see what I love when I don’t always see it. They are my eyes. Thank you friends.

I had insecurities about everything. My “brand”, my hand lettering..you name it. Its pretty silly when you think about it.

“Its OK to wing it. Just get on the place and go. You can pick up a nicer shirt, shaving cream and a toothbrush once you get there” – REWORK by Jason Fried and David Heinemeier Hansson (Just started reading this book today)

So, I’m going to go with my gut. I want people to laugh, to enjoy t-shirts. If you’re gonna wear a t-shirt it might as well be light-hearted and some-what funny. I have dreams and plans to expand my “product”. That’ll reveal itself when the time is right. For now, hustle hard the adventure has arrived.

*Cheers to m’friends who let me use them as models. I love you all!

Miami’s Finest: Threefold Cafe

This Saturday, Amanda, Enamarie and I made a breakfast date. Amanda told us about a new cafe that opened up in the Gables, Threefold Cafe. We love new places, so this was perfect. I fell in love with their decor.  The tabouret stacking chairs, Wooden tables, grey walls, yellow! I mean it was a dream. They even have a little nook for children! Adorable. The food is pretty great a well. I had scrambled eggs and bacon, Enamarie had Waffles with strawberries, and Amanda had the “Not so french toast”! (Not gonna lie, I came here to breakfast the very next day as well! I gotta chill with the eating out.) All of it was delicious! I cannot complain. Not to mention that they serve Panther Coffee. If you like breakfast, you’ll love this place. Give it a try!

Random updates and a find!

I start off most of the week planning out things I’d want to post. I had 3 posts planned out for the blog this week, but I’ve suddenly fallen off of my own inspiration wagon. Lame. It seems as though I’ve expressed the topics in conversation with friends- and then I guess my desire to share on here goes away because I already got it off my chest or something. I suppose its for the best. Everything happens for a reason, right?

In other news…

1.Running is still happening. Woo!

2. Danny and I are doing the Whole 30 again before our Brazil trip.

3. We have a house! Can’t believe it!!!

4. Just did a voice over… It was terrifying. ha!

5. I found a tee I posted last week for less at Urban! Schwing!

I fell in love with this shirt. I was a tad sad that it cost about $50. merp! Screen Shot 2014-05-30 at 2.53.16 PM

Then I went to the mall, and found a very similar one at Urban Outfitters for $29. What?! I call that  a win.

Cinema Paradiso

I somehow got this song stuck in my head…came out of nowhere. Cinema by Gary Go and Benny Benassi. It was my random jam throughout the week. haha! It made me think about my high school days and how I took italian for two years (I barely speak and can sometimes understand). Anyhoo… we watched this film called Cinema Paradiso. Its wonderful. I won’t say its an AMAZING (I’m not confident enough to make such a claim!)  movie or anything, but to me, its pretty spectacular. If you get a chance, check it out.

Foreign films are always nice to watch. I find that a lot of foreign films I see are so beautiful…probably because I don’t entirely understand everything being said, so the story has to be received in other ways. Cinematography, photography, transitions, etc… all part of the recipe for a good story. Hope you see it!

Miami’s Finest: Azucar

We hit up Azucar on Sunday! I had heard about this place and had forgotten all about it. I called Ena after church and she was having lunch with Yannick and Chris. She told me to meet them at Azucar for some ice cream. I was completely full from brunch, but I couldn’t pass an opportunity to have ice cream with friends. So Maria and I drove down Calle Ocho to meet up with our friends.
The shop is located in Little Havana. It’s so adorable and has an array of unique flavors. I had the “Mulatica”. It’s basically a cinnamon oatmeal cookie in ice cream form. Ena had the “Abuela Maria”, which tasted incredible!! I def recommend you stopping by for some real Miami environment and unique ice cream!

Braidsss

I’ve always wanted to try these braids on my *hair, but it always failed when I did! I have a lot of hair and the braids were too heavy and would just slide off. Last night I was trying out ways of doing it without using all my hair haha. So I did, and it kind of worked. This morning was a success! Its the tiny victories I tell you! So, I’m here at work-rocking my milk-maid braids. Happy Tuesday everyone! Don’t let the small victories go unnoticed.

*I made a color change to my hair last month. Ombre! It was a brave moment for me. ha- I’d never dyed my hair before.
